Liebster Award Nomination
When I started blogging in October of 2017, I never imagined I would enjoy it. It's hard. Really hard. Especially, if like me, you're a) not a writer, b) never thought you would be doing it, so no mental preparation or planning and c) have minimal creativity. Nevertheless, I have found myself thoroughly and unexpectedly enjoying the blogging experience.
Naturally, I was touched and honored when I found out my blog was nominated for the Liebster Award 2018 by the beautiful and intelligent highly recommend visiting not only her Naturally, I was touched and honored when I found out my blog was nominated for the Liebster Award 2018 by the beautiful and intelligent Erica Portillo who offers sensible and practical advice for a balanced life approach on her blog, Ask Erica. What is the Liebster Award you ask? The Liebster Award is an award that exists only on the internet and is given to bloggers by other bloggers. In German, Liebster means sweetest, kindest, nicest, dearest, beloved, lovely, kind, pleasant, valued, cute, endearing, and welcome. If that's not a warm fuzzy, I don't know what is.
Erica asked me to answer some questions so you can get to know me, Mama K, a little better.
What inspired you to create your blog?
I don't know if it was inspiration, but once I started blogging, I realized, it was not only an outlet for me to grow creatively, (goodness knows I needed that), but also to exchange thoughts, ideas and experiences with others around the globe. It amazes me how many new friends I have made on this journey so far. While I reside in the US, I have friends from Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Switzerland, and other countries I would never have imagined!
How would you spend a perfect weekend if money was no object?
Oooooo, what would I do? As much as I would love to just lay out on a beautiful island relaxing, I would love to go on an archeological dig. I don't think I would care where, but I love discovering the amazing artifacts from different civilizations and to learn how others lived in the past. I've always felt the more one knows and understands about other cultures, the more understanding one is of the people around them.
What movie have you watched 100 times, but still don't turn it off when it comes on TV?
50 First Dates with Drew Barrymore and Adam Sandler. To me, that's one of the sweetest movies/love stories. The unconditional love he shows to her regardless of the fact that she wouldn't remember him the next day is not only touching and sweet, but also the epitome of true love to me. I love movies that make me feel good - what can I say? I'm a romantic!
If you had chosen a different career path, what might you be doing?
Although I have my degree in teaching, I only taught for a short time. I worked in the corporate environment when I worked for Toys'R'Us and loved it. Currently, I am a full time realtor.
If I had chosen a different path, I think I may have been a nurse or physician's assistant. Maybe because I'm fascinated by medicine or because I sometimes have an innate knowledge about ailments, etc, but I love reading and learning about medicine and how the body functions.
What book or blogger inspires you?
I love to read, and there are many books that inspire me. However, being the romantic that I am, the one book that checks off all the boxes is Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice. I remember when I first read it in high school and how Elizabeth Bennet's strong will and pride which was so uplifting and inspiring to me, allowed her to be her and not conform to what was expected of her. She did what she wanted to do IF she wanted to do it. She lived her life on Her terms and that is so inspirational for me.
