Spring's 5 Hottest Nail Colors

Ever since I was a little girl, wearing nail polish and going to the nail salon has been a special treat - it's like an hour of blissful and mindless pampering. One of my favorite things to do is to get my nails done in brighter colors - a change from the darker colors I wear in the winter. Spring is definitely in the air and thank goodness warmer weather is upon us!

I recently visited MiniLuxe, a chain nail and beauty lounge that focuses on cleanliness and the use of less toxic polishes (toxins to avoid). Although simple, their concept is pretty interesting in that they have a “clean lab” where tools are sterilized. They also take special care not to cross contaminate when it comes to the pedicure tubs.

What I liked is their use of better for you polishes. Why is this important? For one, nail polish is absorbed in your skin through your nails. Think about all they ways your fingers come into contact with your mouth (eating, brushing your teeth, etc) which creates yet another avenue for the toxins to enter your body. The list of toxins in nail polish is pretty surprising - hence why it's so important to try and use polishes that are free of most of those nasty toxins. As we try to take care of what goes into our bodies, we need to also be cognizant of what is absorbed through our skin and nails.

I enjoyed the Performance Polish manicure/pedicure which wears like gel and removes like a regular polish. The best part is that it dries in 5 minutes which is really convenient. No LED lights to place your hands under, no sprays, nothing. In 5 minutes, you get up, dig into your purse for your keys and you’re good to go. Bonus: it can last up to 2 weeks - just like gel... Now that’s my kind of mani/pedi!

During my visit, I learned what the hottest colors were for Spring this year:

These are fun colors to try throughout the season! Let me know what your favorite spring color is this year!
